Anti-goals and the power of negativity.

October 28, 2019 - Michał Dominik

If you’re reading this through social media (or any mainstream media, for that matter) you’re justified in thinking the title is bonkers. That’s because the content nowadays is filled with unrealistically positive pulp designed to force happiness and success down your throat while branding negative thoughts borderline criminal. I’d like to give you a different perspective.

June 19, 2019 - Michał Dominik

Are managers useless – is a question everybody had to ask themselves at some point in their careers. It’s a totally valid one given how poorly some of them perform. I asked myself the same thing many times and it turns out that Google did the same. The answer they came up with turns out to be surprising. Let me tell you what it is…

3 tricks to turning off after work

January 10, 2019 - Michał Dominik

Imagine you’ve just finished work. You cut through the traffic to get back home or to the gym or wherever you’re going. You get to where you want to and start doing your thing. Starcraft and the micromanagement hell

December 11, 2018 - Michał Dominik

I always found video games entertaining if dumbed-down and often unrealistic simulations of our fantasies but also of reality. Despite their shortcomings it often amazes me what we can learn from them. Take Starcraft, for example. I bet that after being treated like this for a while you can get pretty inventive with your invectives towards your leaders. Obviously, these situations can be extremely frustrating, counter-productive and thus harmful to any business. On top of that they can lead to animosities between people and create an “us-them” mentality. This in turn can force people to resign (talking from experience here). However, this doesn’t have to be so. We can make this work through a special form of leadership. [Continue…]

lost without a clear vision
